Learning is fun....and rewarding

I find learning new things fun, and learning something you love makes it all the more rewarding.

The tutorials here come from a group collective of learning, using my own experiences and the experience of others.
Often something ends up here cause someone asked me "how do I.....?"

Photographing
People

Photographing people can be interesting, and frustrating. Of all of the subjects you could pick, people are the only ones that will have, and express, an opinion about the shot. That said, most of us will photograph people at some point. Here are some pointers.

Who needs
colour anyway

I love black and white. The mystery it can elicit in a scene. The simplicity and complexity it exposes. Join me as I show you some of the lessons I have learned and the mistakes I have made.

When nature calls...
to you

We live in an incredible world. If you are fortunate to have the freedom of movement, you can discover places where nature shows you just how lucky you are.

Create your
subject

Sometimes, when you just dont feel like going out, or you can't seem to find something to shoot, you just have to create your own subjects.

Field trip learnings

Photography for me is still a hobby, when I work out how to survive on it that might change. While I try to do a major shoot twice a year, I don't get out as often as I want. I like to learn somehting new every time I head out. The tutorials below represent some of those learnings.

Look left and right

Sometimes a good shot is not in the direction your are looking. This tutorial covers perception, and why sometimes looking left or right can change your point of view.

In the neighbourhood

When looking for subjects, sometimes they are closer to home than you think. Today we look at finding subjects in your own neighbourhood.
